QR Codes: A Trending and Timely Marketing Tool for 2021

You might have seen a QR code on your lunch menu or in a money-sharing app like PayPal or Venmo, but have you ever considered what it could do for your marketing?

QR codes, short for Quick Response codes, allow individuals and businesses to interact on the spot from their handheld devices. You can download files, visit websites, open an app, send money, check-in for a hotel or restaurant reservation, and much more – all with a quick scan from your mobile phone or tablet.

This has massive value in the world of marketing and advertising. As a brand or business, you want to make it as easy as possible for potential customers and clients to interact with you. QR codes are free to use or create and can be generated in a matter of seconds. Here are some ideas to get you started:

1.    Stay in touch with your customers. QR codes can be used to initiate a phone call or add contact information “on demand” to a device. Whether you include it on your business card or a piece of direct mail, it’s a great way to encourage your customers to reach out.

2.    Try a new marketing approach. QR codes can be placed on posters, brochures, websites, and beyond with a call-to-action to message you. An interested buyer can simply scan the code, and you’ll get a preset text message from them! Great for the hospitality industry, lifestyle businesses, realtors, and more.

3. Promote online events. Webinars and virtual expos are becoming increasing popular given our current times. Trying using a QR code in your next catalogue or print ad to drive registration, create a calendar event, or provide access to your event.

4.  Is customer feedback a priority in 2021? Use QR codes on a table tent or feedback card to give them a quick and easy way to share their opinion. Once scanned, their device will automatically create a draft email to the address of your choice. You can also use one to get product reviews by linking to your business page on Yelp.

5. Get more followers. It’s no surprise that companies like Facebook and Snapchat have been wildly successful with QR codes. Why not use one to connect people with your own social media channels? Try it on a banner stand or outdoor display where there will plenty of people passing by.

6. Make it easy for customers to pay. If you own a brick-and-mortar business, QR codes are just what your customers need to feel safe shopping or dining with you. Give them peace of mind knowing they can pay and go without any human contact.

7. Create a fun video. Much like an elevator pitch, a short and punchy online video can get the attention of viewers and drive them to take action. Whether you want to raise awareness around your brand, a cause, or a product, a QR code can help you get the message out!

If you want to go the extra mile and begin tracking data collected through these codes, you can also pay a subscription free to generate a dynamic version. Regardless of which kind you use, QR codes will be a game-changer for your business.
